Canada pushed as hard as they could but it wasn’t enough. At the end of the first period Canada out shot the U.S. 19-6 but the U.S. were still up by one. Canada came back to tie it up early in the second. Shots on goal were 23 - 9 in favour of Canada at the half way mark of the second period. This to me says they should have had more goals. A hit late in second involving three players from Canada had fans worried but luckily all were able to continue. Just minutes later the U.S. took the lead again 3-2, then 4-2. Finally Sidney Crosby let his presence known with the goal that brought them back within one. What happened next is the thing I hate to see the most in hockey, pulling the goalie. I know the idea is to get an extra attacker on the ice and when it works it’s great, but man, when it goes bad… I hate to see that empty net goal at the end. At least this time it wasn’t just given to the U.S. Miller in net for the U.S. was on fire throughout the whole game. It was extremely intense and amazing to watch but really too bad the score doesn’t reflect the effort.
